Flat rack containers are primarily designed for over-width (width greater than 2.35m or 7’8”) and heavyweight cargo, over-height cargo can also be accommodated due to the open construction of the unit.
The bottom construction is reinforced to withstand the high pressure of heavyweight cargo. Multiple internal lashing rings are used to secure the cargo.
Commodities commonly shipped in flat rack containers include machinery, industrial boilers, tractors, parts packed in cases, steel tubes, steel pipes, steel bars and cables.
