HISTORY: Bario rice of Adan Dari variety is the finest and best heirloom wet-paddy rice grown in Malaysia is recognized as a Geographical Indication (GI) agricultural product for its special qualities that came from a unique environmental and cultural location.

Grown for centuries by the Kelabit tribe on the oldest ancestral lands who have, honed their craft over many generations. The fresh and cool water from the untouched mountains of pristine beauty irrigates our wet-paddy fields with rich trace elements and, the cool temperatures of the Kelabit Highlands between 15-25 degrees Celsius have a refreshing, inspiring and uplifting character on our rice.

Our Kelabit community has been perfecting the art of growing this rice for centuries. Planting is steeped in tradition, with each season beginning prayers for blessings and a celebration of the harvest. Every stem of rice is tendered with love and care, including talking to the plants and singing traditional ballads or folklore songs believed to help the plant grow and produce more.
